Troopers and Doctors Appontments

My kids have been troopers! It has been a very busy last week and a half. Getting everything ready for school in that amount of time. Between allergy issues, the fact Caylea was home schooled so she needed to be tested and just regular school stuff (ie uniforms, supplies, registering, doctors appointments to get shots caught up and records). It has been crazy. I am so thankful that it is almost over.

Caylea and Caden had well child check-up's because of their birthday's last month. We were in Oklahoma and when we got back this was the soonest they could get us in. (except I missed my appointment b/c of a mix up in time and so I had to see a different doctor the next day)

Caden was so brave! Before we went to the appointment I talked with Caylea and Caden about getting their finger poked for a little blood test. Caylea did great she even went first set up in the chair and didn't make a sound. Which is a huge contrast from locking herself in the bathroom last year. You can read about that here: Did you know? So Caden was next he wanted to sit in my lap. I held him and helped him let the nurse have his finger he really wanted to be big but I could tell he was a little scared. When it pricked him he said "OUCH" and tried to pull his hand back. I said Caden that is it no more poking right now. (knowing full well shots were coming) He was so proud he chose a band aid and a sticker. We went back to the room. He was so good the whole way through even when they weighed him. I think this may just be the first time he has gotten on a scale willingly since his first allergy testing at 11 months. After that anything to do with a doctor was B-A-D BAD! However after the 5 shots and it taking 3 of us to hold him down (my little boy is so very strong!) he may not feel the same way next time. I feel kind of bad because he only had to get 5 because he is so far behind (he only had his 2 and 4 month shots ~ and he was much older when he got them ~ bc of food allergies and just feeling puny) He will have to get 3 more before he can start school next year. (If we go that route next year)

Caden weighs 32.5 lbs and is 40 inches tall ~ just perfect for him!

Caylea did great at her appointment. Nothing really major going on with her. She is perfect! We just discussed the food allergies and got the necessary paper work for her to be able to start school. The school has to have documentation for an epi or even zyrtec to be administered on school grounds.

Caylea is 57 lbs and 49.5 inches tall.

So while we were there I asked the doctor to check Carolina's ear. She had been complaining about it on and off. As I suspected she has swimmers ear. I got a prescription and paid the co-pay and she should be good as new soon.

Carolina weighed 36 lbs and was (I don't remember this I will have to measure her and add it in).

After their appointment we had Caylea's testing but first we met up with Brother David he kept Caden for me while we were at the school. I am so thankful we were there over an hour and a half and it would of been so boring for him.

Caylea went to take her test and Carolina and I just hung out in the office. Carolina colored and played my ipad while we waited.

I had been looking at placement tests and they showed some things Caylea hadn't done. I did read that some of the things they kids wouldn't know it's to weed out the one's ready for a higher grade. I wanted to be sure though so the few days before the test we studied some. Not a whole lot but a refresher of sorts. We went through all of her books and went over definitions for English such things as prefix, suffix exc. We went over math the most. Caylea's least favorite subject is math so I wanted her to be comfortable and remember what she needed to. I taught her counting by 4's in the car. She already knew 2, 3, 5 and 10 but I just wanted to make sure we covered all the ground we could. After all this was the test the 2nd graders take at the end of the year to make sure they are ready to move on. I also taught her multiplication and division. She loved those! She hates subtraction but loves multiplication and division! I think that is interesting!

After the test the assistant Principal told me that she would call me the next day with her scores (she still hasn't). However she told me that she did well and the only thing she struggled with had something to do with the way they taught reading. That she would figure it out easily and that she was an excellent reader.

I am assuming all is well and hopefully I will hear from Mrs. Duram tomorrow.

After that was over we went to meet up to get Caden and then I brought us all home for a small rest before church. The kids all ended up falling asleep that is not something that happens often around here!

Today we took the opportunity to sleep and and be slow. I did some cleaning this morning. We then spent the afternoon picking up school supplies. I should of gotten them sooner it was difficult to find everything we needed and had to go to several stores. I got it all though. That is except one thing Caylea needed quart zipper bags and I bought sandwich. . .I will grab those tomorrow though.

The girls have a meet your teacher come and go from 3-5 on Sunday. So we will take their supplies up to the school then.

The nurses are not back at the school until Monday so we will have a meeting with her, the assistant principal and the coordinator either Monday or Tuesday.

Caylea will start school on Wednesday. Carolina will have testing one day between the 10-16 and then start school on the 17th. She will go to all day kindergarten she is so excited. One of the things she needed was a kinder mat. She can not wait to use it. She wanted to sleep on it tonight. I probably should of just let her!

Well I guess that about catches us up to where we are now. It's been a crazy time just figuring everything out. Seeing if it was even possible to get Caylea tested and enrolled in time. Oh yeah we enrolled the kids on Tuesday morning. . .then I had that appointment with the doctor with the time mix up in the afternoon so I had driven all the way to Shreveport just to come back. That evening the kids and I took back the uniform skirts we had bought the week before at old Navy. . .well because you could of fit two of Carolina in there. . .I bought her a 5 from Academy I think if they shrink a little they will work out well and they have belt loops so that will help also.

Caylea learning Multiplication and Division the night before her test.

The girls were worn out. I had to get a picture it's not often that they nap and they looked so sweet snuggled up together.
I am hoping tomorrow will be a much deserved day of relaxing around here. Things are about to get crazy. . .me getting up at 630AM! I am going to have to learn some tricks about going to bed earlier!
