What lead us to having him tested was that soon after we started baby food he started throwing up all of the time, he developed eczema and a pretty constant runny nose. He was throwing up so much that he was loosing weight. Considering he weighed 18 lbs at his 9 month check up and right under 17 at his 1 year it was a pretty slow and steady loss. Thankfully that whole time he was able to keep breast milk down.
A few months after finding out about the allergy he had a pretty severe reaction causing immediate throwing up, rash, wheezing and shortness of breath. Thankfully he was okay and we avoided anymore exposures for quite some time.
Well a month or so ago I decided to try letting eggs (only eggs no other food with eggs in it) into my home. So that Anthony and I could have them for breakfast. Well Carolina had been asking me to make her some but the thought of that was making me nervous so I put it off. Well finally last Monday I decided to make her one. I sat her at the table and told her to holler at me if Bubba tried to touch them and I would be in the kitchen making my breakfast. Well a minute later I hear her say Mom I took a bite and I do not like my eggs. So I said bring me your plate so Caden does not get them. Somehow I got busy and she never brought it to me. A few minutest later I say Carolina did you decide to eat them? I hear her say no I forgot then She starts crying Momma Caden ate my eggs. I of course freak a little grab his epi and zyrtec. I held him for a good ten minutes in my lap NOTHING happened! NOTHING!
I called the allergist she had me bring him in the next day. We talked for a good 30 minutes she asked me a million questions to which my answer was NO every time. . .he is totally normal. . .EVERYTHING.
She said just to be on the safe side we should let him have all of the stuff he wants with eggs in it just no eggs such as scrambled eggs or even french toast just yet. She is having us come back at the end of June to have him retested for all of his allergies plus she is testing him for sesame sead (which I doubt is an issue since we have never avoided it and never had an issue).
After his appointment on Tuesday we went by the grocery store and picked up waffles and vanilla wafers. Caylea chose the waffles she has been missing them and Caden picked the cookies. Caden didn't really like the waffles (the boy loves his Miniwheats). . .but he loved the vanilla wafers. He has also had Chicken noodle soup this week made with egg noddles and carrots dipped in ranch (ranch has egg in it).
Also while at the allergist I mentioned that I thought he had outgrown his soy allergy because we were at a friends house a while back and he ate a piece of her bread that had soy in it and didn't react (his reaction to soy was mild throwing up or in smaller quantities a very red face). I told her I had allowed him to have bread with soy flour one of the bottom ingredients a few times and he didn't react she said it sounds like that allergy is gone too. . .she didn't give me any instruction on it so I bought some chocolate soy milk. The first time he had it it was thrashing around in his sleep and whining all night . . .but nothing else. . .so I questioned if that could of been from the soy. So I gave him about 1/2 of that amount yesterday and nothing.
Anyways all of this makes my life so much easier! Caden as far as I know is still allergic to peanuts and tree nuts in fact the allergist is convinced he will not outgrow peanut but I am still praying he will.
She says Caylea will not outgrow hers either and from all that I have read I have no reason to even hope she will outgrow her tree nut allergy but I still pray! (For Caylea and Caden that soon they will have NO FOOD ALLERGIES!)
