Snow Ice Cream

We do not get usually get a whole lot of snow in Oklahoma. I do not know if it is true but growing up I always heard you should wait till the second good snow to eat the snow. This year may just be the first year since my kids were old enough to have snow ice cream that we have had two good snow's close together.

Anthony went with some friends to a Thunder basket ball game so I am at home alone with my 3 kiddos. I thought why not give it a try it just so happens that we had everything we needed. . .the recipe I found called for 1 cup of sugar, 2 cups of milk and 1 Tbsp of vanilla extract oh and of course a gallon of snow. So I mixed the ingredients and stuck them in the freezer for a few minutes then grabbed it and ran out side. I scooped a lot of snow into my bowl and mixed it well. Looking back I should of reduced the amount of sugar I added since in stead of white milk I used skim chocolate milk. It was a little on the sweet side. However my kiddos loved it! They thought it was pretty cool that I could make Ice Cream :)

Caden was not so sure about it at first. In fact he would not even try it so I chased him down and forced a spoon of it in his mouth. Of course he spit it out and cried a bit longer then he decided to sit in my lap and go to town on it. He is so funny . . .(He has always been funny about trying new things since for a few months before his first Birthday everything I tried to stick in his mouth made him throw up. . .-that was food allergies)

So here are a few pictures from our first time making snow ice cream.

We talked about making snow ice cream, but never got around to it. Who knows when we'll get another chance...
